  1. Introduce Secret Santa.
Secret Santa (or to some of us, Hanukkah Harry) is a great way to minimize spending without cutting anyone out of the gift loop. Everyone in your group/family picks a name so that in the end every person has chosen another person’s name. You only buy one gift for that one person instead of having to buy a gift for everyone. You can set any spending limit you want and everyone has to stick to that same budget. In other words, this game is a frugal person’s best friend during the holidays.
  1. Stick to your budget.
A plan is only as good as your commitment to stick to it. You took the time to make a budget, you don’t want to end up in debt come January, so make the promise to yourself, your family and your wallet that you will stick to your plan. And if it helps, have a teammate (your spouse, a friend, a parent…) who can help keep you on track.
