7. Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands and feet.
Tingling could be due to poor circulation. Neuropathy (nerve damage) is one of the more common, and scarier, diabetes symptoms. Peripheral neuropathy results in tingling, pain or numbness in your extremities. Its likelihood increases with age and duration of diabetes. Even diabetics who aren’t experiencing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy should have regular foot exams. Left untreated, it can lead to loss of fingers and toes.
8. Elevated sugar in your urine.
You may notice that your urine has a slightly sweet smell. A simple home test will show if you have excess sugar in your urine. Blood glucose has to be extremely elevated for it to show up in your urine, so see a doctor immediately if you test high.
