In life, success doesn’t just come to those who wish for it. Success doesn’t happen when you coast through your day, drifting from task to task with little motivation and zero passion. For better or worse, being gifted and smart is not enough to achieve what you set out to do. To be successful and feel fulfilled you need to actually show up, in every sense of the word, each and every day. But what does that even mean? According to author Geneen Roth in a piece for Prevention, showing up means actually experiencing life. “It is called presence—-being (body, mind, and soul) where you are and feeling it.” Showing up is about being where you are, appreciating what you have, what you are doing, what you can do, and not wasting your energy focusing on all the things you don’t have, you haven’t done, or you wish you could achieve.
