9. Let them make their own choices.
Similarly, don’t force your kids to follow in your footsteps and don’t try to live vicariously through them. Let them make choices, within reason of course. And if you fear they are heading down a dangerous path, talk to them, and then lock them in their room until they are old enough to get married. We’re kidding…sort of.
