10. Make sure they know there are rules and consequences.
This is the least fun part of parenting, but once in a while you must punish your kids. You’ve set some boundaries, you’ve been very open about what those boundaries are and why they are in place. And when your kid crosses a line, you can’t just smile and pretend it didn’t happen. You need to reinforce your rules and show that there are consequences for breaking those rules. The consequence itself is up to you, but you need to remind your child that you are not just their friend, you’re also their parent and you are require respect.
