6. Provide defined boundaries.
We know, discipline is not fun. Friends don’t discipline. But guess what? Parents do. And whether they will admit it or not, all kids need limits. It’s not about being a friend by allowing your kids to do whatever they want, it’s about being a friend by leveling with them about the rules. Don’t just spit out boundaries without any discussion. Explain why that rule is in place, and why it’s so important to you that they follow your requests. This is parenting advice 101.
