Daddy Could Swear, I Declare • Gladys Knight & the Pips
On a lighter note, this is dad music for those fathers who can’t always curb the colorful language.
Best lyric: Daddy wasn’t no scholar, no/No, he didn’t have Ph.D./But in my eyes and down in my heart/My daddy means the world to me
Forever Young • Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan wrote this song after he became a father. An interesting note that makes it even more dad-centric, Howard Cosell was inspired to recite the lyrics to Forever Young ringside when Muhammad Ali won his third heavyweight title in 1978.
Best lyric: May you always do for others/And let others do for you/May you build a ladder to the stars/And climb on every rung/May you stay forever young
