2. A best friend will tell you if what you’re wearing makes you look fat
And you won’t be nearly as offended. Anyone else guilty of asking the husband if your new jeans make you look fat? Stop that and ask your bestie. Trust us. You’ll get a more honest answer and it won’t sting as bad if the answer is yes.
3. A best friend will listen to you talk about your feelings and she’ll talk about hers
We cannot count the number of times we’ve poured our hearts out onto a silver platter for our husbands only to be rewarded with a pat on the back and a “it’ll turn out okay, babe.” When you express your feelings to your best friend, she’ll listen, respond appropriately and with empathy, and then pour her heart out to you too. It’s a glorious feeling.
4. A best friend won’t go into hiding if you say you have PMS
Our husbands may or may not have that week of the month pre-marked in their calendar as a time to lay low or stay away entirely. Our besties, on the other hand, will show up with ice cream and a chick flick if the word ‘period’ even comes up in a sentence.
