7. Amy Homan McGee
In 2001 Amy Homan McGee was shot and killed by her husband while their children waited outside in the car. Although friends and family saw signs that she was in an abusive marriage, no one realized just how serious the situation was. A 2010 documentary, Telling Amy’s Story, examines her situation from the perspective of those involved and illustrates the importance of paying attention to signs of abuse.
