Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested on February 15 of this year after police were notified of surveillance camera footage showing Rice assaulting his then fiancé in an Atlantic City Casino. The footage showing Rice dragging his unconscious fiancé out of the elevator went viral causing a public outcry over the NFL’s apparent attempts to minimize what happened. Rice and his fiancé were married in March and the incident is still under investigation. Regardless of the outcome, the disturbing video has spurred a public dialogue and forced the NFL to take a closer look at their players’ behavior and the problem of domestic violence.
