The program costs my county about $200,000 per year and some people have vocally opposed spending the money. But I believe it is worth it. If Aguirre and other DARE officers can keep one child off drugs and away from crime or even teach my daughter how to trust police, then it is definitely helping to reach our community and our next generation.
