What-to-Do-If-You-Get-Pulled-Over-by-the-Police-MainPhoto

Whenever she sees a police officer she looks at the ground, tries to cower and freeze. In this age when so many Americans support identification checks, like Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s obnoxious show-me-your-papers law, I’m seriously worried that my daughter’s odd behavior in the presence of police in our home state of Texas will trigger them to question her. I worry they will think something bad, like that she is here illegally, or possibly committing a crime.

I’m so paranoid that I find myself speaking loudly to her in my best Texas twang, and I encourage her to speak back to me in English so officers will know she was born and reared her entire life in Texas.
