Since then, she has cooked for U.S. presidents and international dignitaries, published several cookbooks (one was a James Beard book award nominee), and hosted her own 13-episode PBS show on the food of Veracruz. She has taught countless classes, had her own line of products in WalMart, and has been singled out by the the U.S. State Department’s online magazine as a culinary trendsetter, all while providing many a memorable meal to many a grateful patron. Her latest accolade came in September from Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders, which presented her its Yoloxochitl Award “for her exceptional dedication to the promotion of Mexican culture in New York and beyond.”
