Even if you wear longer sleeves, we still need arm exercises for women to keep our guns in shape. Just because the temperatures have dropped doesn’t mean you should drop your workout routine. According to registered dietician and author, Cynthia Sass, even if people only gain a couple of pounds during the holidays, it’s really hard to take that weight off. She explains, “Most of us never lose that holiday padding, possibly because after abandoning New Year’s resolutions, many people gain back all (or more) of the weight they lose.” And since we plan on enjoying that cup of eggnog this season, we better get moving to fight off the unwanted pounds.
Just because people may not be looking at your bare arms everyday, you should still keep them fit and strong. It will not only make you feel better about yourself, but you will have an easier time getting back to reality (and your healthy routine) after the holidays are over. Here are 12 arm exercises to tone your upper arms.
- Dumbbell Curl
Tone your biceps by doing a basic dumbbell curl using free weights. Start with your feet shoulder-width apart, one weight in each hand (ideally five pounds on each side) and your palms facing up. Bend your arms to a 90-degree angle, then lift your right hand up to your shoulder, then lower it back down. Repeat this eight times on the right side, then switch to your left. Once you’ve done both sides, curl your arms simultaneously so you work both arms at once.
