2. Consider All Options
There are other options: dietary changes, acupuncture, vitamins, and more. I am a special educator and have seen many parents try them all. When it came to my own child, I tried all of these methods to curb his behavior before he even received a formal ADHD diagnosis. Intuitively I knew, however, that I was simply going through the process until I had the diagnosis I needed to get my very anticipated prescription of something chemical. If you look at ADHD as a medical condition, in terms of mental health, then you can change your view about whether it should be treated with medicine. Finding the right ADHD medications for children can be a long road of trial and error, so be patient and resilient.
