3. There is No Magic Pill
If you are diabetic, you take insulin, measure your sugar level, diet, and exercise in order to lead a healthy life. It is similar with ADHD: take medicine, regulate your child’s behavior (or teach older kids to self-regulate), and provide fair and predictable rewards or consequences. Work with your school to identify behavior patterns and to ensure that your child’s dose is appropriate. Consider a sport that helps with discipline, such as Karate. In my experience, long-term, collaborative, and consistent intervention yields the best results.
