Scientific discovery takes years of research, failed experiments and lots and lots of money right? Maybe not. Many of the great discoveries and inventions that we take for granted were actually the serendipitous, result of a lucky accident. Scientists seeking one thing ended up with another altogether. Sort of like aiming to make French fries and somehow ending up with a pile of mashed potatoes.
