7. Velcro
The burrs we pull off our socks and our dog’s fur after a hike were the source of inspiration for Swiss engineer, George de Mestral. Intrigued by the hook design of the plant which made it stick, he developed Velcro originally thinking of it as a clothing fastener. Wonder if he also considered, shoes, NASA spaceships and Velcro moon bounces in his design.
