7. Mary Jane Jarman, Fights Off Attacker with Bicycle Pump
In Washington Heights, stay-at-home mom, Mary Jane Jarman was jogging with her 8-month-old son in his stroller when she was attacked by a man with a broken beer bottle. Their struggle tipped the stroller, sending her son onto the pavement in tears—Jarman continued to battle the man who was reportedly saying, “I’m sorry. I’m sick,” while attempting to pull her off the trail. She grabbed a bicycle pump from the stroller and began hitting the man over the head. He finally ran away bloody and bruised. She and her son were uninjured.
