A few months ago I was stopped for speeding on a major interstate. The officer spoke to me through the passenger’s window where my daughter was sitting, as cars raced by us at 75 mph The officer acted professionally. He was not harsh, offensive or rude. But as I was signing the ticket and passing it back, I noticed a tear drop from my daughter’s eye. She was shaking and petrified. She was inches from this man and she was terrorized. Why?
Her attitude particularly baffles me because her cousin is a Texas state trooper in El Paso. It’s also not like her to cry, ever. She’s a very tough little girl who is a great student, loving friend to animals and a competitive swimmer. She’s not shy or fearful in any other situation.
