5. Dig a Little
Ask your mother-in-law questions about your husband when he was growing up. First, this keeps him at the center of the conversation as the glue that brings the two of you together. Second, this allows your mother-in-law to brag about her son (and her own parenting skills), which makes her feel good and she’ll associate you with that good feeling. Third, you might get some good dirt on your husband, an added bonus.
6. Surprise Her
While it’s great to defer to your mother-in-law’s expertise in certain matters, you can also enlighten her about things in your wheelhouse. Don’t hesitate to help her install apps on her tablet or tell her about the new barre studio in the neighborhood.
