Another Google alumni, Mayer was hired by Yahoo in 2012. Mayer lists her occupation as “computer programer and CEO of Yahoo.” Since she took the reins at Yahoo, the stock price has doubled. Her innovative ideas on company benefits (paid paternity leave) and PB&J (a forum for employee grievances) have earned her a salary of $117 million over five years. The moral here: don’t be afraid to work for a startup. Mayer was only the 20th employee hired by Google.
