7. Avoid collisions.
Never re-gift to someone who knows the person you got the gift from. You might wish to retain a permanent list of where gifts originally came from and to whom, and when, you re-gifted them.

8. When in doubt, don’t! Regifting isn’t always the right solution. Certain circumstances demand new gifts. Those stored baby clothes your kids never used may not be proper gifts for your cousin’s baby shower and, you should never re-gift for special occasions, like weddings. Also, if you don’t like an item, there is a good chance that your friends won’t either. Consider donating the item to charity. After all, it might be someone else’s future re-gift!
