After a long day you’ve finally made it to the home stretch. You’re in pajamas, you’re in bed, you’re about to fall asleep…but first you need to take one last look at your cell phone or iPad in bed. 3 hours later you’re still checking emails and catching up on celebrity gossip. Sound familiar? It happens to the best of us, but turns out that innocent bonding time with your phone could be doing more harm than good. It’s not entirely your fault—these days our cell phones double as our book, our magazine, our TV, our notepad and even our alarm clock. It makes sense that the last thing you look at before bed would be your phone, and unless you want to sleep through work the next day, you need your phone nearby to wake up on time. But with sleep issues more prevalent than ever, it’s becoming increasingly clear that you need to unplug before you can catch some zzz’s.
