What’s great about this band is not just the music, but that its members are all Mexican-American. Some people have even referred to their music as Mexicore, which I guess is meant to signify a hybrid of Mexican and hardcore. What I like most about Pierce the Veil is that its music represents a shift in how we view Latinos and music today. Pierce the Veil embraces its Mexican heritage and uses it as part of the band’s sound and look. Think of Domingo Zamudio back in the 1960s as Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs or other Latin musicians who play salsa inspired rock, such as Carlos Santana.
