My-Two-Worlds-Growing-Up-A-Biracial-Latina-MainPhoto

LOL-What-the-Style-of-Your-Laugh-Says-About-You-photo2For me, being a biracial Latina means looking up to the strong Puerto Rican women in my life (my mother, my grandmother, my aunt.) It means embracing our history, embracing our food, our music, our culture. And it also means embracing my African-American side, and its history and culture. I realize now that’s okay—I don’t have to be either/or; I can be both. Most of all, I am me, no matter what. And when I see other little mixed girls walking around with their parents, so innocent and blissfully unaware, I smile to myself, knowing that they are incredibly lucky to have the best of two worlds.
