BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Now, a few years later, I am living in New York. I have friends of all different ethnicities, and I am who I am. I don’t feel like I need to act a certain way to fit in anymore; you either like me or you don’t, regardless of what my racial background happens to be. I don’t know if it’s something that’s come with maturity, or from living in the melting pot of New York City, or because I see our society putting less of an emphasis on race as the years go by. Whatever the reason, it’s now clear to me that my biracial background doesn’t define me, but instead is an important part of me that I am proud of.
