Song of the South follows seven-year old Johnny as he learns a thing or two from Uncle Remus, an elderly black man on his grandmother’s plantation in Georgia. It is set in the post-Civil War era, and its stereotypical treatment of race relations and depiction of former slaves is still controversial.
