Naturally, cutting calories can help you lose weight. If you fast, you eat less for a large chunk of your day/week. Granted, there are several options for intermittent fasting plans (see below), but however you do it, you are spending several hours without food intake, so you’re ingesting fewer calories overall. The trick is to make sure that you don’t over-compensate for your missed meals when the fast is over. As per Shape, “Total calories matter, so if you eat all the calories you “fasted off” in the subsequent days (or hours), you won’t lose weight.”
