You Need to be Mindful of Your Hormones
A drastic shift in how much you consume (aka fasting) could result in a hormone imbalance and health problems as a result of those hormone elevations. As per Huff Post, according to Sara Gottfried, M.D., author of The Hormone Cure, “skipping meals ramps up your stress hormone cortisol, which I consider a dark lord of metabolism.” She continues to say that intermittent fasting “can keep cortisol elevated when it should be tapering down and create the undesired effect of storing fat and breaking down muscle.”
