6. But he is meeting with leaders of the Hispanic community to start conversations
That said, in recent weeks Trump has met with some key leaders in the Latino community to start conversations about his past statements, his immigration policy and his support for the Hispanic community. As Time reports, in a recent meeting with evangelical pastor, Cuban-American Mario Bramnick, the two agreed to continue the conversation about immigration reform. Bramnick explains, “We didn’t get into specifics other than that he wants to work with us, work with the Hispanic community, Hispanic leadership on substantive policy regarding immigration.”
7. Hispanics are not behind Trump…
Despite his recent efforts, nationwide polls suggest that the majority of Hispanics are not standing behind Trump. Not exactly shocking news, but important nonetheless. The Miami Herald reports, “a nationwide survey by Latino Decisions of registered Hispanic voters finds that 87 percent have an unfavorable opinion of Trump. In a poll by the Washington Post and Univision, 8 out of 10 Latinos viewed Trump unfavorably.”
