11. Do you want to dress for formal dinners?
Traditionally, cruise lines host a formal night. Everyone gets dressed up and photographers offer the opportunity to get the family portrait done. You’ll meet the captain if you want and have a photo taken with him as well. On non-formal nights a suit jacket for men and a dressy outfit for the ladies is fine. Many cruise lines offer “dine your way” programs where you dine when you like at a variety of specialty restaurants. If you want to stay casual the entire trip, you certainly can.
12. Can I smoke aboard ship?
You can, but in certain areas only. Some cruise lines offer a cigar bar where you can indulge in a stogie and a snifter of brandy. Smoking is not allowed in cabins or dining rooms for the most part.
