9. What kind of food is there aboard? Can I keep to my diet?
Cruise lines serve generous menus. Very generous menus. There’s usually a buffet available for every meal, room service (with a limited menu) and a semi-formal dinner service. While the dining room has a nightly menu, there’s a lot of flexibility and they can accommodate any dietary requirements. But if you’re watching your waistline, you’re going to need a lot of self-control when confronted with numerous temptations.

10. Do you want a big ship or something more intimate?
The rule of thumb is, the smaller the body of water sailed, the smaller the ship. River cruise ships rarely hold more than 200. If you really want to get to know your fellow passengers, opt for a boutique-style cruise line instead of one of the goliaths of the sea.
