For busy moms, or any woman who juggles family, career and friends, New Year’s resolutions should be all about simplifying and making life easier.
That’s why we’ve put together four easy beauty resolutions for you that will help you look and feel good about yourself year-round!
1. DECLUTTER & UPDATE YOUR MAKEUP KIT
What better place to start decluttering than your toiletry bag? Looking through endless containers of half-used or expired makeup only makes it that more difficult to even want to apply it!
How to do it:
- Set aside your most favorite items, the ones you use all the time. Make sure they aren’t expired or broken. Ditch everything else!
- Make a note of what you are missing: are you out of blush? Undereye concealer? Use your Christmas gift cards wisely and splurge on some new makeup!
- Keep your makeup visible, in a caddy on the bathroom counter if possible, or on your dresser. That way you will not be tempted to buy more of what you already have.
2. USE MULTIPURPOSE BEAUTY PRODUCTS
Nothing saves time and money like using two-in one and even four-in-one beauty products. Some of our favorites are 100% Pure Lip and Cheek Tint, It Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush and Clinique Age Defense BB Cream.
How to do it:
Make sure every new product you buy is multi-purpose and by the end of the year you will have saved time, money and even space!

3. CUT DOWN ON BEAUTY ROUTINE TIME
The sheer amount of time certain beauty routines take can be daunting and cause you to bypass them altogether. In order to feel that you are taking care of yourself and maximizing your time, combine beauty routines.
How to do it:
- Shave your legs and exfoliate your skin as you shower.
- Wear a beauty face mask while you do the dishes, using a hand-beautifying dishwashing liquid.
- Go old school and set your hair in rollers while you tidy up the house.
- Use baby oil to moisturize your skin in the bath.
4. MAKE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH SLEEP
The best beauty secret is to sleep enough, and stay well hydrated. Of course there are ways to look rested even when you didn’t catch plenty of zzzs. But nothing beats the real thing.
How to do it:
- Set a schedule for yourself that includes 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
- If you have a baby, enlist the help of your spouse, a friend or a babysitter so you can nap during the day.
- Exercise! Even a brisk walk pushing your baby’s stroller will help destress and unwind.
- Listen to soft music when you go to bed. Take turns with your spouse in checking the baby or the kids if they wake up at night.
