This years’s FIFA World Cup Brazil is June 12-July 13 and we are so excited for all the fun and patriotism of this enormous sporting event. A few of us here at Mamiverse have daughters and we are particularly happy to pass along our own love of soccer to our little girls. While the notion of a girl playing soccer seems odd to some, as many girls decide to take ballet classes or singing lessons (both of which are awesome, of course), ours have decided to play soccer right alongside the boys. They’re following in the footsteps of some of the greatest female athletes of all time: soccer icon Mia Hamm, who has broken more than one record; Brandi Chastain, taking her shirt off on the field (just like the guys); and Hope Solo who said, “My confidence comes from the daily grind—training my butt off day in and day out.” We want your daughters to have that same confidence so we’re giving you 10 reasons why raising a girl soccer player is a great idea!
