I am Charo-Gato, the #1 cat fan of my Latin idol, superstar icon Charo. Just like her, I believe in celebrating those who embrace the spirit of their own uniqueness.
Famed for her flowing honey blonde mane and classic guitar virtuosity, my favorite Latina has been delighting audiences for nearly five decades. Discovered by bandleader (and future ex-husband) Xavier Cugat in 1966, Charo joined his orchestra as a singer and dancer. She made her film debut in the aptly titled Tiger by the Tail in 1968. By the 70s, this cauldron of talent really came into her own appearing on a variety of TV programs such as The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Sonny and Cher. She appeared on one of my favorite ‘70s TV shows, The Love Boat, more times than any other guest star (though we never did see her dip so much as a pinky claw in the ocean). Charo Cuchi-Chuchi-ed her way into our hearts with her dulcet tones and bubbly humor.

When I am not relaxing with a lovely saucer of milk and a Tender Vittle or two, this Charo Gato likes to hit Vegas for a long weekend, where I pay homage to the strip where the real Charo still occasionally performs in her cabaret showstoppers.
What Makes Charo-Gato Purr
- Never a cat supremacist, Charo Gato—like her idol Charo—defends the rights of all species as a proud supporter of PETA.
- Loves a rousing game of chasing guitar strings.
- Switching her tail to Charo’s Sexy Sexy alone in front of the mirror.
What Gets Charo-Gato’s Dander Up
- Rude dogs.
- Having her golden tresses brushed in the wrong direction.
- Rainy days and wet fur.
- Overly forward Tomcats who try to sniff her bum without a proper introduction.
