When the year 2012 was approaching, we began to hear of strange Mayan prophecies predicting that the end of the world would happen in December. No wonder people joked about it, recalling other apocalyptic prophecies, such as the Y2K effect that never was. Actually, the Mayan calendar, according to some interpretations, says that the close of 2012 marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one…energetically speaking. We are entering the Age of Aquarius or New Age. Therefore, we’re bidding farewell to the Age of Pisces, which lasted about 2,000 years.
According to many spiritual leaders, the Age of Aquarius is a time that invites us to let go of limiting beliefs and fears, to start living in a state of joy, respect, authenticity and solidarity. This seems hard to believe when we look around and see so many areas of our planet devastated by wars, violence, economic recessions, hunger, injustice and natural disasters… But all this instability can be taken as a sign that the system is collapsing. And sometimes things have to fall completely apart before they can be put back together again, better than they were before.
THE POWER OF INTENTION
In recent years we’ve heard a lot about the law of attraction and Quantum Physics. There are many books that show how to develop the power of our minds, telling us we can get anything we want by focusing our thoughts on visualizing our goals. I personally think that things are not always that simple and circumstances are often difficult to rationalize, but I believe—because I’ve experienced it—that focusing on the positive and committing to our intentions helps us vibrate at a higher frequency, thus attracting people and circumstances that make us feel good, and help us grow and move forward.
It is said that for centuries these theories were reserved for a selected few who kept the knowledge a secret. Today, this information is available to everyone and more and more people are experiencing an inner liberation, releasing old patterns that have caused a lifetime of mental and emotional suffering. Maybe we don’t really know what’s going on, but many of us feel like we are immersed in a rapid change, and feel the need to be more authentic, generous, and faithful to our heart’s desires.

FIND THE NEW ENERGY
There are ways that we can align ourselves with positive energy and move towards inner liberation in the New Age. Here are seven steps for getting there:
-
Clean the clutter. The first step towards changing your vibration level is to let go of everything that is no longer useful, nurturing or inspiring. Old friends you don’t feel connected to, limiting beliefs, stuff that brings back bad memories… Close the door to them! It’s time to open new windows. Don’t be afraid of being left alone or dispossessed. The Universe is supporting those who choose to move towards their own happiness and fulfillment.
-
Meditate. Taking a few minutes each day to meditate helps you stop identifying yourself with your thoughts and realize they are just passing energy forms. Therefore, you don’t need to dwell on negative thoughts. If you don’t have time, try to meditate in motion. Repeat a mantra while you jog, color a mandala book during a break at work, focus on your breathing while waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Even if you do it for only half a minute, you will feel the benefits.
-
Open your heart. Learning to listen to your inner voice means that you stop using your work, family or hectic schedule as excuses. Take charge of your life by learning to make choices that will bring happiness to you and those you love. Be consistent and you will have more energy and greater satisfaction. As a result, your life will flow more easily.
-
Share. Seek the company of others who, like you, are focused on becoming the best version of themselves. If you’re too busy or isolated, remember that the Internet is full of inspiring people and helpful resources. Also, share this information with your children. Teach them to think positively, to believe in themselves and have faith in a Higher Power.
-
Be thankful. When you focus your attention on the blessings in your life and everything you have achieved through your own efforts or the generosity of other people, you immediately feel better about yourself and more compassionate towards others. This way, you allow goodness to continue to flow back to you.
-
Own your power. Stop complaining and waiting for the government, your boss or your husband to change. Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world,” and this could be the motto of all New Age-conscious people. To support your own change, stay away from negative and manipulative people, as well as stressful environments. Also, be mindful about what you watch on TV—don’t waste your energy paying attention to catastrophic news or crappy reality shows.
-
Be brave. Dare to trust in your dreams and a Higher Power supporting them. Call it God, Goddess, Universe or whatever you want, but remember that you are part of that power. Trust that when you take the leap, the net will appear.
