What is dearer to our childhoods than Play-Doh? We ate it, made Mother’s Day clay pots and rolled it into countless snakes. In 1956, Joseph McVicker was working in his family’s chemical company when he found that the solvent used for cleaning wallpaper could also be used as modeling clay. With the addition of bright colors, Play-Doh became a staple in preschool classes everywhere.
