- Rwanda Has A Larger Percentage of Women In Government Than the US
Of all nations around the world, surprisingly Rwanda has the most women in parliament. In fact, women in Rwanda have won 63.8% of seats in the lower house. Compare that with only 27.7% in the Americas and 41.1% in Nordic countries.
- Women Representatives Make Up Only 20% of Congress
Women currently only make up 20% of the U.S. Senate. According to Representation 2020, “twenty women currently serve in the Senate of the 114th Congress of the United States, up from 17 in the 112th Congress.” Yes, it’s an increase, but men still occupy 80% of the senate, and about 80% of the House of Representatives as well.
