12. Horseback riding is the ultimate escapism. The wind in your hair, the sound of crunching leaves under the horse’s hooves and the time spent outdoors are an incredible escape from the stresses of everyday life.
11. Horses have an air of adventure. It takes guts to climb on top of an animal and relinquish some control, going for a ride wherever the two of you may roam.
10. Now that horses aren’t used for work, girls are encouraged to take up riding as a pastime more than boys are. We love this. Both for the horses (less work means more play, right?) and for the girls!
9. Women tend to be better at picking up nonverbal cues than men, making them more likely to work well with horses. Horses communicate with small, gentle gestures prior to larger, more elaborate ones and, since girls tend to be more observant of other’s feelings and responses, the relationship is often a loving, respectful one.
