Focus on How the Interpretation, Not the Experience
If you don’t agree with someone else about a topic—and it really doesn’t matter who the person is or what the topic is—then try to focus on their interpretation of a situation, not the situation itself. Chances are you cold both have similar experiences, but very different reactions to those experiences and very different ways of interpreting what you went through. Don’t try to question what someone else may encounter in their life, but instead keep an open mind and an open dialogue about how you both responded in different ways.
