Next week many of us in the United States will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. In school this week, our children will wear green, see shamrocks everywhere, and may even learn the history of St. Patrick, the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Perhaps they’ll learn about the eight Irish Americans who signed the Declaration of Independence, or the 22 American Presidents with Irish ancestors. The facts are easy to find because Americans love their Irish and the holiday.
