Time Spent on Social Media
First of all, think about how often you use social media. Recent reports show that on average, “people in the U.S. check their Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts a staggering 17 times a day, meaning at least once every waking hour, if not more.” And keep in mind that doesn’t account for the time you spend taking selfies and other videos/photos that you plan to share on social media at a later time. It’s a huge chunk of your time that is spent on social media instead of doing other things, like, say, actually enjoying the moment and appreciating what is happening around you. Sure, the time you spend on social media does come with some perks and benefits (which we’ll get to below), but it’s also a lot of time, and when that time gets out of hand you could end up with a social media addiction.

Pro – If the time you spend on social media is being used to network and advance your career, to connect with loved ones, to learn something new or to make new friends, then it can be time well spent.

Con – If you spend so much time on social media that it is taking away from your actual experiences and enjoyment of life, it can become a problem.
