8. Impersonal
Like it or not, a marriage is not just a romantic relationship. While romance certainly plays a role, marriage is also a business relationship. As Susan Pease Gadoua, author of Contemplating Divorce puts it, “Marriage is a legal contract. In fact, marriage is the greatest legal partnership most people will enter into in their lives—and a family is nothing short of a corporation.”
