Children are working in groups more often now, each with a variety of roles and responsibilities with more emphasis on project-based learning. Solving the equation isn’t good enough anymore; they must validate their answers, show evidence of the process they used to obtain the answer and explain in written form the steps taken to arrive at the answer. Children are taught to provide proof in support of their answer in order to ensure that they comprehend the concept being taught.
