MARIELA DABBAH ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND LATISM

Mariela Dabbah says she found out that she had been nominated for the LATISM Award as Best Latin@ Business Blogger through a follower who congratulated her through a tweet.

“I was very surprised,” Mariela says. “It’s a very exciting award, because it recognizes the hard work that I, and all the other nominees, have been doing for the last few years in the Latino Community. I feel honored to be one of the finalists, all of whom I know and respect.”

The other nominees are: Jesús Chavarría, of Hispanic Business.com and Murray Mann, who writes Latinos At Work Blog. Learn more about all of the nominees.

Mariela states that being a part of the social media movement has helped her cater to the needs of her audience.

“It has definitely increased my awareness of what people are interested in. It has allowed for a free flow of conversation with members of the community, whether colleagues or followers. I find it intellectually stimulating.”

Mariela is a very busy woman, who answered my questions while on her way to be interviewed by Notimujer on CNN en español; she is still not sure of whether she will make it to the LATISM Conference in Chicago this year.

“I’m hoping to be able to arrange my schedule to attend the LATISM conference, I would love to be a part it,” Mariela concludes.
