Thank you so much for sharing your story, making it more real. We write about it, but few come out and talk about the reality, their story.
This story was prompted by a male friend who brought it to my attention. I also know more stories, sadly from freinds and family who have gone through this. Some are still in denial.
This scars you, I know, and hope in time the fear of being abused again will subside and you will believe and trust again.
Thank you, again for your honesty, it makes my article more real and helps spread the word!
Its good you had the courage to talk about it Erik,it helps you heal.l pray you will get a partner you will treat you like you the only one on this earth!
I just want to say I enjoyed reading your writing. I was a victim of domestic violence. It made me believe that i am not the only one out there. I was abused both emotional and physically for years. At one point right after I had a spinal tap done I was told to lay flat for 24 hours. We got into a fight about that and that she would have to take care of the kids because of it. that lead to an physical attack which caused a spinal headache and had to be hospitalized for three days. Eventually Grew tired of the abuse and called the police during an attack. I was luck that it was a female officer who responded to the call. she did everything she could to make me feel not bad about it, it did not really work until she looked at me and said that if she could hit a full grown adult what is there to stop her from hitting the kids. It worked a little. Enough to make me go out and file for a domestic violence injunction and a divorce the very next day. Over time I am finding myself opening up more about it. I want people to know what i had gone through. so thank you. Erik L Johnson
