D is for Diameter: A mole is suspicious if it is bigger than the eraser of a pencil.

E is for Evolving: A mole that is evolving—shrinking or growing larger, changing color, begins to bleed, or itch—should be checked.  If a portion of the mole appears elevated, or raised from the skin, a doctor should examine it. This is the most important sign to look for during a self-examination.
