The story of the men and women firefighters who operate out of the Engine 40, Ladder 35 firehouse in Halberstam’s Manhattan neighborhood. On September 11, 13 men responded to the call, but only one survived.

Sometimes fiction can also be healing when it comes to remembering September 11. One of the better fictional books written about the event, the story centers on a fictional child survivor of a 9/11 victim and how he heals.
