Where do you see your life in five years? In ten? What do you hope to accomplish tomorrow? These are all important questions. Without goals it’s extremely hard to achieve anything. But on the flip side, when you get caught up in the big picture you can easily forget to appreciate what is happening right now. Look around you, take it all in and do whatever you can to live for the moment. It’s time to embrace the NOW. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” Preach!

Are we suggesting you abandon all of your goals for the future? Obviously not. But if looking to your future is preventing you from enjoying the present, then you’ll never fully enjoy your life today or tomorrow. Here are 15 signs that you are not living in the moment. And if you’re not living in the now, you can make a change starting, well, NOW.

1. You are not optimistic.
Do you spend too much time worrying about the future, to the point where you don’t feel good about what is going in your life right now? Instead, if you really want to live for the moment, try to think positively about today and don’t worry about what may happen next. When you abandon your stress and concern for tomorrow you can actually start appreciating what is happening around you at this moment. Positive thinking leads to positive actions, not just for your future but for today as well.
